Kauai Reflections: A Hawaiian Christmas to Remember
This week, we flew from the Big Island to Kauai to continue our Hawaiian holiday adventure! It’s always amazing to see how distinct each island is. The Big Island, with its vast, rugged lava fields and striking landscapes, feels dramatic and untamed, while Kauai is a lush green paradise—so vibrant, serene, and alive with natural beauty. It’s no wonder they call it the “Garden Isle.”
I’ve been to Kauai several times before, so this part of our trip was more about slowing down and soaking up the magic of the season. It was a chance to celebrate Christmas as a family, relax, and share some of my favorite places on the island with the kids.
Our time here has been filled with unforgettable moments. We started with a traditional luau, a wonderful celebration of Hawaiian culture with delicious food, music, and mesmerizing hula dancing. Another highlight was a perfect beach day at Hanalei Bay. This beach holds a special place in my heart—it’s stunningly beautiful, with its golden sands and turquoise waters framed by dramatic green mountains. Watching the kids laugh and play in the gentle waves made it even more magical.
Christmas Eve was another standout moment. We attended a local church service, which was both meaningful and unique. The highlight for me was seeing hula dancing incorporated into the song service. It was so graceful and moving, and it brought such a special and unexpected beauty to the celebration.
As I reflect on our time here, I hope each of you was able to find joy this Christmas, no matter how you celebrated. I know the holidays can often feel hectic and overwhelming, but my hope is that amidst it all, you had a moment to pause and reflect on the gift of Jesus. It’s in those moments of stillness and gratitude that we can find true peace and comfort.
